Step into abstraction with confidence in this inspiring, hands-on workshop designed for anyone ready to loosen up, experiment, and take their painting in an exciting new direction. Whether you’re moving away from representational work or already painting abstractly and looking to deepen your practice, this workshop offers the space, guidance, and creative spark to help your work grow.

Working with water-based media such as acrylics, inks, gouache, or a lively combination of mixed media, you’ll explore techniques that can bring more depth, energy, and personality to your paintings. Collage, embedded objects, layered surfaces, and experimental mark-making will all be part of the creative adventure.

Led by Elaine, an artist with over 25 years’ experience and a BA in contemporary art practices, the workshop is encouraging, personal, and most importantly, fun. With small class sizes, you’ll receive plenty of individual guidance, while the studio’s rich collection of artist books and magazines offers endless inspiration whenever you need a creative nudge.

Set in a bright, warm, purpose-built studio filled with Elaine’s artworks and puppets, this is more than a class — it’s a chance to immerse yourself in a vibrant creative space. Located in a charming courtyard with cafés, restaurants, and ample free parking, it’s the perfect setting for a relaxed, inspiring day of making art.

Experience

Some painting experience recommended.

Materials Required

Bring your own paper/canvas and paints/brushes.

There will be some resources available in the studio if you want to try something different or have forgotten something.

Refund Policy

All classes must be booked and paid online.

A full refund will be made in cases where the artist has to cancel the workshop.

Where the client cancels up to 10 days before the workshop a full refund minus a €20 non-refundable deposit is available. After this time no refund will be made.

About Elaine

Elaine has a BA in Contemporary art practices and has been painting for 25 years. She has been teaching painting classes and workshops for over 10 years. 

Her own work has evolved over the years from representational to mostly abstract and is held in private collections worldwide.
